Who We Are
The concept was born in 2019, six months after Marjorie, founder of Choix, had her first baby. She faced many challenges to dress up while breastfeeding; from odd fittings nursing clothing, functional but not stylish to mainly synthetic poor quality fabrics. While building her mom's village, Marjorie quickly realized she wasn’t the only one with wardrobe problems on the motherhood wagon.
After conducting research and surveying over a thousand moms, she found out 73% of women feel unattractive during one of the most vulnerable times. Marjorie believes it's essential to wear clothing that fit and flatter our transitional bodies. And shopping for comfortable, stylish, functional, and sustainable clothing shouldn't be that hard or add an additional mental load.
Inspired by the fusion of French heritage and California effortless spirit, Choix is a curated collection of chic & feminine, comfortable staples to fit the ever-changing woman's body. Designed for mothers and Mother Earth in mind, the collection is postpartum and breastfeeding friendly.
All fabrics are chosen carefully for their breathability properties for moms to feel at ease and run after their little ones with confidence.
How We Do It
Working in the most ethical ways matters to us as we can’t deny the negative impact that the fashion industry has on our environment.
Being 100% sustainable in fashion doesn’t exist. From the moment you start creating something new, resources will be needed. But there are solutions and alternatives to reduce our footprint and that's the route we are choosing for the different aspects of our business operations.
MADE IN CALIFORNIA
We prefer to produce in the U.S. where we can visit our manufacturer and ensure good labor conditions and fair wages. Keeping production local also means less of a carbon footprint compared to producing overseas.
For our debut collection, about 70% of our fabrics are sourced from deadstock places, meaning there are the left-over fabrics of other fashion houses that might have overestimated their needs. The rest is sourced from responsible suppliers and we choose sustainable materials.
LABELS & PACKAGING
We choose to use responsibly sourced paper, compostable mailers and organic cotton labels.
DESIGN WITH US
Early on, we've been using polls on Instagram because of its powerful community. It helps us choose fabrics, colors, test designs in order to create solutions you need and love Mamans. We make sure to create consciously and avoid waste.
